Fundraiser for Greenfield K-9 Program
In January 2005, we began a fundraiser for the Greenfield Police Department
K-9 Unit. One of the K-9 officers, Jack, was diagnosed with Lupus earlier this year. The town funds were
very limited so a major fundraising effort was started to help provide medical care to all the dogs. Judy Desmarais
spearheaded the fundraiser with help from Jessie Valentine and other team members. The Greenfield Kiwanis Club created the
tax-deductible account for people to donate to. Judy took pictures of all the dogs and with the help of her sister in
law, and printing by the Franklin County Sheriffs office, a beautiful 14 - month calendar was created. Thank you
to everyone who donated to this great cause. Working with the K-9 Officers has been a wonderful experience for everyone
involved. If you are interested in donating to these great dogs, please contact our office for details.

Education Programs
For the past three years we have been educating children about veterinary care.
The Four Corners Preschool class has toured our facility for three years now, and we have taught them about veterinary
hospitals. Our doctor met with the children and showed them how to listen to a cat’s heartbeat and talked with them
about veterinary care. We also had the Sunderland Elementary kindergarten class and the Bernardston Elementary kindergarten
class here to learn about veterinary care. We will continue to support our schools by offering this service to them.

Discounted Spay and Neuter Programs
The Pioneer Valley Veterinary Hospital also participates in the programs established
by the Dakin Animal Shelter and the Pioneer Valley Humane Society. Offering discounted spaying and neutering for pet's in
need. We also are a part of the MSPCA Snap program for spaying and neutering cats in dogs.
